Exciting additions coming to BulldogBlitz.com...

Today is an exciting day for BulldogBlitz.com and Mississippi State sports coverage!

My name is Vernon Bailey and today I step in as the publisher of BulldogBlitz.com. Let me start by saying I have a tremendous amount of respect for Logan Lowery and the job that he has done on the site and we hope to build on that moving forward.

To give you some background on myself I have been in the industry for over 20 years. In 1991 I started the first collegiate sports website and today it is one of the oldest sites still running on the
Internet. That site, WVSports.com, is also part of the Rivals network with the focus on West Virginia University athletics.

My desire is to use the experience I have gained over the years to expand BulldogBlitz and to bring you
the best coverage of Mississippi State athletics.

Enough about me, let's get to the staff that you will be seeing on the site. I'm very excited to announce the hiring of senior writer Robbie Faulk. Robbie joins our team after working several years in the MSU sports information department. He has worked closely with each Bulldog sports program and has the knowledge and motivation to excel in this position. Faulk will handle much of the daily content and will lead our staff of writers.

Also joining the staff will be Anthony Krumpach, who will serve at the site's recruiting analyst.
Krumpach has many years of experience in the industry and we feel he will quickly become a well-known name in the MSU market. You can expect expert analysis from Anthony on State's recruiting targets.

Over the next week will be going through a "soft release" of BulldogBlitz and while we will start
delivering content right away we are very excited to launch a new look and have our full staff in place by August 1st.

We welcome your feedback and our staff is available to you at any time. Please don't hesitate to contact us with your questions or concerns.

Thank you and we look forward to building a great site for a very deserving fanbase.

Can't get here fast enough. Throughout the next several months I'll be thinking of reasons to why we will destroy you. Right now not a lot is coming to mind because I don't know much about your school.

Oh Snap! I forgot, you guys stole Fred Ross from us at the 11th hour. He's going to be a good player. Bastards. We will destroy you for this in 203 days.

Have a healthy spring!

Who wants to play basketball for MSU?

Looks like Rick Ray is having opening tryouts for the second-straight season looking for some walk-ons. If you're interested, all the info is listed below...

Walk-On Tryouts Slated For Sept. 24
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Second-year Mississippi State basketball coach Rick Ray has announced there will be tryouts for full-time students interested in possibly becoming a walk-on.
Students interested in trying out must first submit their name, MSU ID, Net ID and date of birth to nlagroone@athletics.msstate. eduby noon on Sept. 16.
On Sept. 19, a mandatory meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. on the floor of Humphrey Coliseum, with the actual tryout date slated for 6 a.m. on Sept. 24 at the Mize Pavilion.
At the Sep. 19 meeting, prospects will be instructed on the requirements that will have to be completed before anyone is allowed to tryout (eligibility, proof of insurance, physical, etc).

Several future Bulldogs in action tonight

Quarterback Nick Fitzgerald and Richmond Hill start their season against Johnson High School.

Aeries Williams and West Point take on South Panola in Batesville tonight. This is the opening game of the season for the nation's 42nd ranked running back.

In JUCO ball, Joquell Johnson and Co-lin start the season against Northeast. 2015 wide receiver commit Donald Gray will not play this season due to injury and will redshirt. This turns out to be great news for MSU because Gray now gets three years on campus. Words we continue to hear from Co-lin and MSU alike is that he is an absolute steal and will make an immediate impact. That is most of the reason why the Bulldogs wanted him on campus this season.

Finally OL Norman Price and Hinds start their season tonight as well with a battle against Mississippi Delta. Hinds is ranked 15th in the preseason polls.
