Mississippi State has 21 commitments heading into signing day tomorrow (27 total, but six are already enrolled) and we expect all 21 to sign with the Dawgs.
It's a rarity in recruiting these days to have a national signing day where every single commit is seemingly very solid. Fletcher Adams was talking about taking an official to Ole Miss, but that never happened. Darryl Williams was offered by Florida on Monday - the scholarship was extended by former MSU DC Geoff Collins. Those are the only two I could fathom as somewhat potential flips, but they are serious longshots.
As I reported this week, the only two targets on the board are JuCO DT Leo Lewis.
The feeling is still that Miggins is pretty much a lock to Mississippi State. He's a solid addition and adds depth to State's interior defensive line.
However, the feeling with Lewis.. is well, confusing. The sources of the MSU side of things I've talked to don't seem to have a good idea on where Lewis is feeling, and neither is the one LSU source I was able to talk to. I'm still predicting Lewis to LSU, but not with a high amount of confidence.
Brandon Walker of the Commercial Dispatch asked me a few questions for a pre-signing day article on Mississippi State. I wanted to share my answers to his questions here:
1) Outside of waiting for Leo Lewis, Is MSU's finish shaping up to be one of the most quiet finishes that you can remember in recruiting?
It really is looking to be a very quiet finish. In recruiting, that is just so rare that I'm almost expecting something wild and unexpected to happen. The unexpected always seems to happen on National Signing Day, but this one for MSU might just go as planned.
2) Why is it so quiet?
Mississippi State's 27 commitments all are seemingly very solid commits. I went up and down the commitment list and just couldn't see a scenario where one would flip. MSU's class is also pretty full, so there's not much more room for more recruits.
3) Does anybody have any idea about Leo? And what's all the fuss about him?
I've been talking to my sources and people around the Rivals network, and there's no one that's certain where Lewis is committing. Most people are expecting LSU, and what's what I'm expecting as well, but with Lewis you just never know.
