Mullen, Three Seniors To Represent MSU Football at #SECMD17 Tuesday

HOOVER, Ala. – Over 800 media members descend upon the Hyatt Regency Wynfrey Hotel this week for the unofficial start of college football season at 2017 Southeastern Conference Media Days.

Mississippi State, represented by head coach Dan Mullen and seniors Donald Gray, Dez Harris and Martinas Rankin, takes its turn at SEC Media Days from 1-4 p.m. CT Tuesday.

Mullen will appear live at the podium of the main media room at 1 p.m. on SEC Network, WatchESPN.com and via the Watch ESPN app. SEC Network will have coverage throughout the day.

A photo gallery, quotes and video will be available on HailState.com following MSU’s rotation. For fans watching at home or the office, the official social media hashtag of SEC Media Days is #SECMD17.

In addition to meeting with members of the press, the Bulldogs will conduct interviews with ESPN, SEC Network, CBS and Sirius/XM Radio throughout the afternoon.

Mullen is making his ninth SEC Media Days appearance, currently second to only Alabama’s Nick Saban. Mullen, who first stood at the podium 2,911 days ago, has guided the Bulldogs to a school-record seven straight bowl appearances and a 61-42 mark.

Gray is seeking an All-SEC season after hauling in 41 passes for 709 yards and five touchdowns last year. He ranked fifth in the league in yards per catch (17.3). The Memphis, Tenn., native is one of two Bulldogs who will play this season with a degree already in hand. Gray graduated from MSU with a degree in sociology in December 2016.

Harris, a native of Bessemer, Ala., has played in 26 career games and is expected to man the middle under new defensive coordinator Todd Grantham. He finished with 37 total tackles – 3.5 for loss – and two forced fumbles as a junior.

Rankin, a preseason second-team All-American, is likely to be the Bulldogs’ highest drafted player in 2018. Several mock drafts list the center/offensive tackle going in the first round. Rankin started the final 10 games of 2016 at left tackle, paving the way for a dominant MSU rushing attack.

The league will unveil its preseason All-SEC teams at the conclusion of Media Days on Friday.

Season tickets and mini-plans for the 2017 campaign are on sale now at HailState.com/tickets, by calling 1-888-GO-DAWGS or in person at the MSU Athletic Ticket Office on the first floor of the Bryan Athletic Administration Building (288 Lakeview Drive), Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
