For those looking for an SEC to travel north of the Mason-Dixon line, here ya go, even as it will come against a program not even remotely considered elite.
Mississippi State and UMass have reached an agreement on a three-game future series. Two of the games, in 2017 and 2020, will be played in Starkville. The first game of the series, in 2016, will be played at Gillette Stadium, the Foxborough, Mass., home of the NFL’s New England Patriots.
The first game of the set will serve as as the first-ever meeting between the two football programs. The path was paved for that game as well as the series after Tulane last month cancelled its contract for a 2016 contest against MSU and ultimately announced future games with Oklahoma.
