Pretty cool award here for Hubbard. Release below from MSU Athletics:
Mississippi State's Josh Hubbard was selected for the SEC Community Service Team announced Thursday by the conference office.
Since arriving at State, Hubbard has been involved in several community efforts. He ran his own basketball camp, the Josh Hubbard Showcase, in his hometown of Madison last summer where he gave away scholarship money. He also has engaged with elementary and middle school students along with their teachers from multiple schools in the Starkville community.
Hubbard was one of 29 candidates across all collegiate sports for the prestigious 2025 Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup honor.
Last September, Hubbard had the opportunity to attend the NCAA Elite Student-Athlete Basketball Symposium in Indianapolis. Staff members from NCAA leadership development and enforcement took time to lead student-athletes through sessions ranging from decision-making strategies and advice from former NBA players to financial literacy and working with sports agents. The student-athletes were able to experience a dynamic lineup of sessions led by industry experts.
Hubbard has a lab component at the Child Development and Family Studies Center (CDFSC) as a part of his major. Early Childhood professionals who oversee students at the center every day have commented on his positive interactions with the children and how he always remains engaged with them. The children he works with during his lab are ages 2-4.
Hubbard has embraced the opportunity to demonstrate how a student-athlete can excel both on the court and in the classroom during his time at State. He continues to showcase his extraordinary leadership skills on campus.
The 2024-25 campaign marks the 27th year for the SEC Community Service Team for men's and women's basketball. All 21 league-sponsored sports have had a SEC Community Service Team dating back to 2004.
