You know, it may be all coming to make sense now. Maybe Stricklin saw an opening and knew he had to act fast to get Ben Howland. Scott may have even known what was brewing at USM and with Tyndall long ago. The fastest hire in MSU history was Scott's best move to date. Had we not jumped on Ben, he would likely have ended up at BAMA or UT. And it would have been hard for us to match either of their offers. The BAMA board is doing a lot of wondering how we got Howland and they didn't even have him on their list. Of course UT came later, but had Tyndall been fired sooner, you know UT would have made a play for Howland. Our timing and clandestine dealing with Ben Howland was impeccable! Good job Scott. I kind of believe had Ben Howland not been available, we would not have fired Rick Ray this year. Probably would have next year if significant improvement not been made. Which is what most of us kind of thought would happen anyway. Would love to know who all was involved on the Ben Howland hiring. It wasn't just Scott.
