Meridian (Miss.) four-star ATH Daniel Hill released his top 5 of Alabama, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Tennessee, and USC over the weekend. He intends to announce his decision on August 23rd.

Hill tells me that the only visits he’s made this summer have been to South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, and LSU. The only visit he has set up before his commitment is Alabama on July 29.

Hill is a Mississippi State legacy as his father Demetrius Hill was a D-Lineman in the late ‘80s, but it’s not realistic for him to commit to Mississippi State without visiting.

As of now, I believe it’s a South Carolina-Alabama battle. Mississippi State will push for him to attend the recruit cookout later this month and if they can get him on campus maybe some things can change, but I don’t foresee that happening at this point.

Not sure how active they are at this time, but the MSU staff extended an offer to 4-star SG Rakease Passmore out of Combine Academy (NC) at the beginning of the year, and he continues to impress and garner attention from a diverse mix of schools. He was a recent standout at the Pangos All-American Camp and was one of the most efficient scorers at Peach Jam this past week. It's my understanding that Mississippi State could be on the verge of landing a starting pitcher from the ACC very soon. South Carolina and Florida State are also involved.
