Third Annual Baseball #CowbellYell Set For Tuesday Night

STARKVILLE, Miss. – With the 2016 Mississippi State baseball season rapidly approaching, the No. 11 Diamond Dawgs are preparing to host the third annual "Cowbell Yell" at Dudy Noble Field Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 6:15 p.m. CT.

The free event serves as the kickoff meeting for "The Dudes," MSU baseball's student fan organization. Cowbell Yell's goal is to increase student involvement within the program, but all fans are encouraged to attend and support the nationally-ranked Bulldogs.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m., at which point attendees will be led through the locker room of the nine-time NCAA College World Series participants. After exiting the locker room, fans will then walk out of MSU's dugout and step on historic Dudy Noble Field. The first 1,500 students will receive maroon "The Dudes" T-shirts from adidas as a way to showcase their membership in the program.

Head coach John Cohen will speak to attendees about the highly anticipated 2016 season and about the value that "The Dudes" program's support provides to the team. Fans will also hear from team captains Dakota Hudson, Brent Rooker and Jacob Robson.

Participants will get a sneak peak at MSU's 2016 highlight videos, and Hobie Hobart will be in attendance to instruct fans on the correct way to do the Diamond Dawg "Roll Call." The event will conclude with the ceremonial first-pitch of 2016 thrown out by 2013 All-American and first-round draft pick Hunter Renfroe at 6:40 p.m., just in time for fans to head to Humphrey Coliseum to catch the men's basketball team take on Arkansas in a nationally-televised contest.

The Bulldogs begin the 2016 season Feb. 19 against FAU at 4:30 p.m. at historic Dudy Noble Field. Student admission is free with a valid MSU ID card. Fans can buy general admission season tickets or Friday night mini plans at the MSU ticket office or by visiting HailState.com/Tickets.
