Actually, it wasnt Fedora not wanting to play the Liberty, USM had to choose between Hawaii and i think the Armed Forces bowl. The Liberty Bowl has some contractual agreement with the SEC and the Big east. I cant remember the deal but has something to do with if the SEC having enough Bowl Eligible teams. That year, it worked out into that secondary agreement that forced the Liberty to take a Big East and SEC matchup, and left USM out. I think the only way a CUSA team is promised a spot in the Liberty is if the SEC has 10 bowl eligible teams, which this year, we do.
