STARKVILLE – A Top 25 showdown in Baton Rouge awaits next Saturday as Mississippi State football climbed two spots to No. 22 in the Associated Press poll released on Sunday.

The Bulldogs (4-2, 1-2 SEC) travel to take on LSU (6-1, 3-1), who leaped to No. 5 in both the Associated Press Top 25 and Coaches poll following its win against then-No. 2 Georgia. State is receiving votes and just outside the Top 25 of the Coaches poll.

Kickoff for the Bulldogs and Tigers is 6 p.m. CT Saturday live on ESPN, WatchESPN.com and the ESPN app. It can also be heard on the MSU Sports Radio Network, HailState.com/plus and via the Tune In app.

MSU is ranked for the 14th time in 15 weeks dating back to last season. The meeting with LSU is the latest the two teams have faced off in a season since Nov. 10, 2012.

Stout defense has been the Bulldogs’ strength in 2018. With an open date yesterday, MSU remained the nation’s No. 1 scoring defense, allowing only 12.7 points per game. Senior defensive end Montez Sweat is tied for the national lead with 7.5 sacks.
