2017 Mississippi State Football Schedule Unveiled

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Home games against LSU, BYU, Kentucky, UMass, Alabama and the Egg Bowl returning to Thanksgiving night highlight the 2017 Mississippi State football schedule, which was unveiled by the Southeastern Conference on Tuesday evening.

State will play seven home games and eight conference games.

The Bulldogs open the season with back-to-back non-conference games, hosting Charleston Southern on Sept. 2 in Davis Wade Stadium and then traveling to Ruston for a Sept. 9 matchup against Louisiana Tech.

MSU returns home for its SEC opener against LSU on Sept. 16 before consecutive road league games at Georgia on Sept. 23 and at Auburn on Sept. 30. It will be the Bulldogs’ first visit to Athens since 2011.

Following an Oct. 7 open date, BYU returns this year’s trip for an Oct. 14 matchup in Davis Wade Stadium. The Cougars last visited Starkville in 2001. Kentucky comes to Starkville on Oct. 21. State then heads to College Station to face Texas A&M on Oct. 28.

A two-game homestand opens the month of November as the Bulldogs host UMass on Nov. 4 and Alabama on Nov. 11. MSU closes its road slate at Arkansas on Nov. 18 in Fayetteville.

The Egg Bowl returns to Thanksgiving night as the Bulldogs host Ole Miss on Nov. 23 in Davis Wade Stadium. It will mark the first year of a multi-year agreement to play the Egg Bowl on Thanksgiving night.

The first SEC Championship Game to be played in the new Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta is set for Saturday, Dec. 2.

Game times and television networks will be announced next year.
