Today was the first day of spring practice and the media had the opportunity to attend. With it being the first practice it was a bit light but I've still got a few observations I'd like to share.
Obviously the offense looks a bunch different than the Air Raid, and Will Rogers said the only other time he's taken a snap under center was on a QB sneak in High School. His high school also ran the Air Raid.
With the new offense comes the addition of tight ends. MSU had no tight ends from last year's team, and transfers Ryland Goede and Geor'Quavius Spivey won't be here until the summer. From the looks of it, Antonio Harmon, Ty Cooper, Malik Ellis, and Jacarius Clayton will handle TE duties this spring.
As for wide receivers, most positions seem to be the same except for Tulu Griffin who is now working out of the slot. Creed Whittemore was most impressive of the freshmen.
On the defensive side, Jett Johnson is expected to miss most of spring camp with a shoulder injury but it won't be a long term deal. Kalvin Dinkins got plenty of reps on the inside and should factor a lot this fall.
